The children were told to be careful when they were herding sheep by Røseknuten, especially when it was dark or during a storm. Somewhere on the mountain there is an imprint of a foot named "Røsefoten" (The Røse Foot) and it is said to be made by a troll. It is also said that the troll made such long strides that it had to sit down for a moment. The other imprint of his foot, as well as the imprint of the sack he was carrying, can be found in Tveitmarka in Hunnedalen. The sack was made for carrying hay and you can see the imprint from a knot on the sack, where he put it down.

Description:
From the Ålsheia Alpint parking, walk up the road towards the skiing center. By the lodge, take to the right over the bridge, continuing the road towards Bekkedalen. In the end of Bekkedalen, take to the left over the bridge to Tjødnestøl. You will see Stølstjødn on your right hand as you continue towards the next bridge. Shortly after crossing this, leave the road to the left (to the south-west), between the cabins and up the hill. The path will be parallel to the creek as you pass a bog and a pool and it will continue up a small hill until you can see Nyestøl and its ski lifts. After that the hike will continue between the ski lifts and up towards the tracks in Bekkedalen.

Where the tracks part you should keep to the right, following the most narrow of the tracks, until you cross a creek and end up following the creek's right side upwards. The track then takes you to another ski lift, where you should cross below the adjacent operators cabin. On the stretch after the operators cabin you will cross a creek, turning back left, following the narrow path up to a plateau. Afterwards, you will pass by a couple of pools on your right hand, as it starts to get steeper. Follow the ledge of Gunnarshei, for approximately 10 minutes, after which you can walk down to the creek and follow that, cris-crossing the various obstacles in the terrain upwards. At 870 meters above sea level the terrain starts to level and you should now turn to your left towards the power lines. Cross under both lines, north of the pylons, and you should see Litla Røsetjødn, a small lake, on your left side, and Velevatnet, another small lake, on your right. From here you continue upwards, to the south-west, the last distance to the top.

For a detailed description of the trek, with height profile, points of interest and more, buy the book "Vandring i Sidralsheiane inkl. Kjærag og Sirdals Seven Summits" from the tourist information office or one of the shops.
